As a design devotee and professional, I often stop and consider a crucial aspect of design. What makes it great? What makes a design memorable and distinctive?

I've approached this question throughout my life as a 16-year-old salesperson at a boutique home store; a student spending late nights delving into art history and design theory; an auction house associate trailing appraisers with a notebook and pencil; a buyer-merchant digging into sale numbers and scouring the market for the next big thing, and finally as a designer for my own brand.

Styles change. Trends wax and wane. Great design, however, endures. When I founded Part and Parcel Goods, I created a set of principles outlining what is essential for great design. These pillars inform my creative process and are the criteria for everything we do and create. At Part and Parcel Goods, great design is essential.
